I noticed in the last post, Obama’s Bush - A Facebook Conversation, that humans (at least people in *this* society) have an innate need to believe in something. People have to put meaning into everything even if the meaning is pure conjecture. It is not enough to stop at the “observable” and take it for what it is. We must ask why it is or even worse, create our own explanation for it. We should be more like the “Fair Witnesses” in the book Stranger in a Strange Land by Robert Heinlein:

Anne was seated on the springboard; she turned her head. Jubal called out, “That new house on the far hill top can you see what color they’ve painted it?”

Anne looked in the direction in which Jubal was pointing and answered, “It’s white on this side.” She did not inquire why Jubal had asked, nor make any comment.

Jubal went on to Jill in normal tones, “You see? Anne is so thoroughly indoctrinated that it doesn’t even occur to her to infer that the other side is probably white, too. All the King’s horses and all the King’s men couldn’t force her to commit herself as to the far side unless she herself went around to the other side and looked and even then she wouldn’t assume that it stayed whatever color it might be after she left because they might repaint it as soon as she turned her back,”

“Anne is a Fair Witness?”

I think emotions have such a profound influence in this society that it dominates our thinking. It’s the “I need to look out for ‘number one’” mentality. It is no wonder why there is so much anger, paranoia, disrespect and fear in this country (Oops! Wouldn’t that be my observation?) Let hope that we don’t go the way of the Vulcans and force logic to solve our undisciplined emotions.

“D” - So I stumbled on some pictures and video of when Obama did nothave his hand over his heart for the national anthem…of course all ofthese libs are posting pictures of Bush having his hand over hisstomache. The fact is: I don’t care where BusBush had his hand becausehe actually served in our countries military!

“M” - You just don’t appriciate the complexity of what it takes to be acommunity organizer.

Alfred Lopez - So (if I understand your point), if you serve in themilitary then it’s ok to “slack off” on your civil duties? I don’tcondone Obama’s lack of respect, but at the same time, I don’t condoneBush’s lack of respect either JUST BECAUSE he served in the military. That’s like saying the rich *can* do anything they want because they’rerich. Don’t make Bush a “Frodo Baggins”.

“M” - Being willing to do it is better than outright not doing it. I think that is the point being made here.

Alfred Lopez - Who says Obama did not intend on doing it? The [moral] of[the] pics/vids is that action speak louder than intent. And as far asthe point being made, only “D” can tell us what his point is. I’m just making a conjecture.

“M” - I think the point he’s making is media bias. Though in this case,I think it is the influence of media bias on people who actually buytheir crap.

“N” - Don’t make Obama the Messiah either. Military or not Bush was/is apatriot even though he deserved alot of his critisism. Obama clearlyhates this country and what it stands for. I think that is the point “D” is trying to make.

Alfred Lopez - @”N” Again, “D” is the only one who can clarify *his*point. And, no, I am not making anybody a messiah (not sure how you cameto that conclusion). As far as your “observation” of Obama hating thiscountry, perhaps. Goes to show you how anybody can be The President ofthe US.

“D” - Alfred…”N” is refering to when our president was just apresident elect and everyone made him out to be the messiah. To answermost of these: My point is that Bush cared about his country, and thatAmerica was still America. The media loves to take anything bad saidabout ‘Bama…call everyone a racist…and then explain why the bushadministration was worse. This is funny to me because Obama despises America and wants to change it from the foundation up. I know why hewon’t do these respectdul gestures…because he doesn’t care! If he stays in office and the people of America don’t start taking realaction, we will be socialist before we know it…we are heading towardsa Radical Tyranny! Half of America right now is a marxist and they don’teven know what the crap that means. I pray to God that there will be a2012 election!

Alfred Lopez - It’s interesting how well you “know” Obama and Bush! Ihave no affiliation to either of them. I look at results. Never onpromises nor intent. Anybody can promise and we all have intent. Don’tconfuse me for a Bush hater or an Obama lover. I am neither. Moreimportantly, unless it comes from the horses proverbial mouth, stating”facts” out of conjecture either fuels anger or furthers ignorance. That was my point.

I’m the kind of guy who likes cutting edge stuff. I update my operating systems often, even on my phone. I always have the latest entertainment technologies (Blu-ray, HD DVR, DLP TV, etc), but the one thing I don’t like cutting edge of is food. I don’t like processed or “microwaved” food (btw, my microwave is a Kenmore Elite stainless steel model with a “jog wheel” for controls made by LG). I like the old fashioned way! Hence, why I’ve succumbed to marketing and eat an Wendy’s. Yesterday I got in the drive-thru at a Wendy’s across from Milenia Mall (I’ll leave y’all to figure out where that is) and as I was ordering, the order display was distracting me, like the stains in the Tide commercials that talk distractingly while the person with the stain is talking (see commercial here). Anyway, it occurred to me that the screen was not blank, yet it wasn’t changing. To my surprise (warning: nerd/geek references here) the screen had a DOS prompt on it. In fact, not only was it DOS, it was Caldera DOS (can’t get any hokier than that)! Here’s the screen shot… (more…)
